In most cases no, but in my case yes...
I probably spend 30% of my time in automation and the rest for sapient testing (see James Bach Blog). Of course during some periods the automation efforts have to be higher (during implementation, creating a framework among other things) but once settled (if you have a good framework) a relative small effort in maintanance, running tests and creating new tests could still be worth while...
In my case this is possible due to the following:
- Previous experience in automation
- An automation-friendly AUT (framework-based prefereble)
