Agile team tester part 1 - get the balance right

I have been in an agile team for almost a year now and I would like to share some of my thoughts about it compared to my previous experience as a system tester.

Working close to application developers and the application code has some benefits and here are some of them:

+ Early as possible feedback, finding and fixings bugs prior promote to main stream/branch
+ Design insight, better accuracy on risk analysis on changes
+ Design and developing built-in testability features when applicable for a story
+ Testing in local dev environments and in debug mode, reduces setup and enhances bug investigation a lot

So minimizing waste, setup and enhanced bug investigation sounds great, any drawbacks?

- I feel like I am slowly turning into a developer (I have even fixed minor application bugs in others code) and since my team focuses on some of the areas of our product I am not longer testing the entire system.

I think the trick is to have the right balance:

+ As a tester, keep application development to a minimum, unless there are obvious advantages for the team
+ Keep the mindset of a (system)tester, focus/defocus

I am very proud belonging to a team where all take responsiblity in delivering stories with quality and at a steady pace...
